Toxic in your relationship with God?

“Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains,”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Prayer can be many different things. Prayer can be seen as mediating in the presence of the Lord, communion with God, apologizing for your sins, interceding for others, saying thanks, or simply just talking to God. Prayer is all this and more.

Without prayer, you do not communicate with God. Prayer is how you talk to God it’s how you build a relationship with Him. Even with ASL you still communicate with one another through means of sign language. Even with friends or family members we still communicate with them even when they are hundreds of miles ago correct? So how can we not communicate with a God who is currently and presently with us in the very room we are in?

Instead of me asking how much do you pray, let me ask you the same question but in a different light. How many times do you ignore God? How many times do you ignore the living God who is so powerful He can get rid of you in a heartbeat yet chooses not to? How many times do you ignore the God who created the stars in the sky and was there when the earth was formed?

Yet we constantly do that over and over again putting God in a box. Saying we won’t ask you God if we should do this because we know better than you. Or we say God we won’t say thank you for getting us out of this storm because we only want to go to you when we have problems.

If your friend only goes to you with their problems and never listens to yours, wouldn't you consider that friend toxic? If a friend never says thank you for everything you do for them and only goes to you to take things, you would consider them ungrateful and label them as someone who takes advantage of others correct? So why do you do this to God?
