Secular Fast : Day One
"There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions." - Ezra 8:21
Day one: I usually listen to music while I’m brushing my teeth and doing my hair so I took just a few extra seconds to put on some Christian songs. I put some songs Christian songs centered around the piano and it really made my morning so much more relaxing. I usually play songs that will get me pumped up but I realized my morning was so much better when I allowed myself to shake off the sleepiness instead of forcing it.
When it got to the time when I worked on my blog I was a bit stumped. See I usually put the tv on as background noise. There is only one faith-based channel on my tv so while I search for the channel I also prayed they didn’t have Joel Osteen on. They had Andrew Wommack on and although I haven’t even heard of him before I gave it a shot and I’m so glad I was. While I was waiting for a file to download I tuned more into what he was saying and he had such a convicting message! He talked about how if Christianity was illegal, would they have enough evidence to put us in jail? Even if they did would it be because we were like Pharisees praying in front of everyone and making sure people knew of our good deeds? Or would it be because of our hearts? Later on at Church Danny ( a leader at our Church) was talking about making God a priority and it reminded me of that message. If people were to look at our hearts would they see God as the priority or would they see making ourselves look good as a priority? Both had a really good message and I was able to get 3 pages of notes that I’m going to turn into blog posts!
