Believing VS Loving
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.””
John 14:21 NIV
If you are reading this than chances are you believe in Christ. Yet believing and loving is different. I can believe that the person reading this is a real person. But that doesn’t mean I love you right? Goodness I don’t even know who you are. Yet in the same way we think that believing is the same as loving. If we believe Hitler was a real person that doesn’t mean we love him. So why do we think the same as Christ . To believe is not to love but to love is to believe. Kids love Santa Claus, and because of that they believe in him.
So the question is, do you love Christ? Majority believe in Christ but majority don’t keep his commandments. Yet to love Christ is love His commandments and to respect them.
Think about it. When your mother or father told you to not touch the fire they did it out of love. And when you went behind their back and touched it then you learned to respect it cause you got burned. Or when your parents got on your back to raise your grade from an F to a C and placed you in tutoring you didn’t like it at first . But knowing that if you didn’t you would be in summer school instead of on the beach made you love the fact that they pushed you to get better grades. So even when we don’t see the light of God’s commandments in the beginning, we can know that to keep His commandments is to love Him and that He has those commandments in place out of love for us. So everything He does is out of love so in everything we do we must also do in love, because that’s the commandment He gave us. (1 Corinthians 16:14).
